Melissa and Joe 10.26.13 by Bolla Photo

It was Game 3 of the 2013 World Series. After the Cardinals won game 2 over the Red Sox on the night of their rehearsal, Melissa was hoping for another win to make her husband even happier on their wedding day. As a large part of the wedding guests, including the mother of the groom (aka the biggest St. Louis fan, according to best man Michael), gathered around the TV at the Forest Park Golf Club, the Cards went on to win 5-4 over Boston.

The rest of the day was just as wonderful! Melissa and Joe wed at the beautiful St. Gabriel’s in St. Louis.  Then the entire bridal party headed across the street for some portraits. After a quick drive all the action at Busch Stadium, we stopped on Washington Avenue.  There we ran out and dodged traffic and also ran in to the wonderful firefighters from Engine House #2 of the St. Louis Fire Department.  They were kind enough to let us highjack their fire truck briefly and they even joined in for a photo. Then it was on to Forest Park where the sky lit up in beautiful streaks of blue and gold and everyone enjoyed a night filled with dinner, dancing, laughter, and of course, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Congratulations again, Melissa and Joe!

Jennifer and James 05.18.13 by Bolla Photo

Jennifer and her father were flanked by flower petals and floral pew pom-poms as she made her way down the aisle to her very-soon-to-be husband. Her gorgeous off-white satin gown stood out amid the black attire worn by James and the rest of the bridal party. The elation felt by both James and Jennifer at their union as husband and wife was clear to all in attendance.

After the brief ceremony, the couple was bombarded by silver streamers as they exited the church and soon made their getaway in a fabulous antique Packard, chauffeured by the father of the bride. The waterfall garden setting just outside The Falls reception site was perfect for portraits. Inside, Jennifer and James enjoyed their elegant black and white cake and dancing the night away.

Congratulations to Jennifer and James, such a wonderful couple, and also to Evan and Logan, two of the cutest and sweetest ring bearers ever!

Jessie and Joe 11.03.12 by Bolla Photo

Jessie and Joe got married on a beautiful autumn day. Jessie started her preparations for the day at the Mane Attraction and finished at the church. When she started to get a bit nervous just before the ceremony, Jessie took a few deep breaths and let her mom lead the way down the aisle.

Reverend Kerber kept the ceremony focused on the importance of the day, but still kept light-hearted too. During the questions of intent, he even had Jessie and Joe repeat their responses louder, to ensure that all present could testify to their answers. After ushering all of their guests out of the church, Jessie and Joe were showered with bubbles.

Their first destination as husband and wife was the Gardens at SIUE. After several chilly minutes of portraits, Jessie and Joe turned their bridal party loose to relax until the reception.  Jessie decided to brave the cool 40 degrees and get in some more portraits of just her and Joe.  We went to the Edwardsville City Park and finished in the vineyard at Villa Marie.

The autumn decorations perfectly accented the simple Tuscan style of the Villa Marie Winery. The guests enjoyed delicious food and wine and a night full of dancing and goofing off in the photobooth.

Congratulations, Jessie and Joe! We are so honored to have celebrated with you!

Kelly and Derrick 06.16.12 by Bolla Photo

We love getting to work with unique couples.  And Kelly and Derrick are definitely not your everyday bride and groom! Their engagement session is a prime example. We met at their favorite pub, McGurk’s in Soulard.  After loosening up with a few drinks, they were ready for some photos around the pub grounds. We finished off the evening laughing until we cried as Derrick told us some of his hilarious stories over dinner.

Their wedding day turned out to be just as entertaining and non-traditional.  The most adorable flower girl wore a tutu and the ring bearer wielded a bubble gun. Derrick’s dad served as his best man, and Kelly’s mom gave her away. They had beautiful skies for their outdoor ceremony, even if it was a bit hot and windy. Another unique touch was a wine ceremony, in lieu of a unity candle or sand ceremony.

The bridal party went to the General Dean Suspension Bridge at Carlyle Lake for some portraits after the ceremony, where the girls danced around in the shade and even made the guys form a pyramid. After cooling off at the Flamingo Bar, it was back to Bretz Winery for more partying. The toasts consisted of the entire bridal party doing Irish Car Bombs after each speech.

Kelly and Derrick surprised us again during their first dance as husband and wife.  In the middle of the song, they made their way over to the edge of the dance floor for a piece of cake, which Kelly then proceeded to smash in Derrick’s face. All sorts of entertainment continued with a night full of dancing, including a dance-off between Kelly and one of the groomsmen.

Kelly and Derrick, congratulations again and we wish you all the best!
