Jennifer and Jake 12.28.13 by Bolla Photo

What a wonderful end to a fabulous year! I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple for my final wedding of 2013! Jennifer and Jake are just so adorable together – their love and goofiness is infectious. The couple exchanged their personal vows (accompanied by much laughter and many tears) at the quaint Bothwell Chapel.

After their intimate ceremony, we were all thankful for the warm (for December) 40 degree temperatures as we strolled down the streets of historic Lebanon. We even popped into the old soda fountain shop so the newlyweds could share their first milkshake. I just couldn’t get enough of this darling couple as they giggled and kissed and danced the night away.

Congratulations again, Jennifer and Jake! We wish you all the best in your new lives together in Virginia (and wherever else life takes you)!

Also, a huge thank you to my awesome sidekick for the day, June of June Hallowell Photography!

Sarah and Nick 11.16.13 by Bolla Photo

Sarah is one of the most organized brides I’ve had the pleasure of working with.  And it was clearly evident on her and Nick’s wedding day. The coordinating stationary, the wedding day survival kit, the perfectly rehearsed first dance, the purple in the flowers and dresses and groomsmen’s socks and flower girl’s shoes…everything added up to the entire day being beautiful and going as smoothly as, well, their perfectly rehearsed first dance.  :-)

It also didn’t hurt that Sarah and Nick had the support of some wonderful friends and family, including Sarah’s seven fabulous bridesmaids whose purple lace-back dresses beautifully echoed the lace detailing on Sarah’s own gorgeous gown. I love how the purple absolutely popped against the red and orange leaves outside St. Luke’s!

Congratulations again, Sarah and Nick! Thank you for letting us share such an amazing day with you and your friends and family.

Also, a huge thank you to my Rock-Star Sidekick, Emily of Emily Dobson Photography!

Becky and Chris 11.02.13 by Bolla Photo

Unlike most brides, Becky did not have an exact idea of what she wanted her wedding day to be like. This proved to make certain aspects of the wedding planning a bit challenging due to all of the decisions to be made.  However, when it came to her wedding photos, Becky knew what she wanted. She wanted something other simply trees or fields.  She had a vision of a vintage rustic building as the perfect backdrop.  The only problem was finding one in a location that would work with her wedding day schedule.

When Becky told me about the barn at her new home, I knew we had found the right location. But there was a new problem: the only access into the attic of the barn was a ladder up the wall made of 2 by 4 planks (gradually increasing in size from a few inches long). Unfortunately, our original thoughts of opening the side of the barn and lifting Becky up in a bucket truck didn’t work out. (The barn’s fault, not the truck’s.)  Thankfully, though, she’s quite a trooper and climbed her way up. Thanks are also due to Chris, Tara and Kelsi (of Peace Love Productions) and the groomsmen who also helped the bride make her journey safely. Anything for the sake of unforgettable photos!

Congratulations again, Becky and Chris and adorable little Kynslee!

Melissa and Joe 10.26.13 by Bolla Photo

It was Game 3 of the 2013 World Series. After the Cardinals won game 2 over the Red Sox on the night of their rehearsal, Melissa was hoping for another win to make her husband even happier on their wedding day. As a large part of the wedding guests, including the mother of the groom (aka the biggest St. Louis fan, according to best man Michael), gathered around the TV at the Forest Park Golf Club, the Cards went on to win 5-4 over Boston.

The rest of the day was just as wonderful! Melissa and Joe wed at the beautiful St. Gabriel’s in St. Louis.  Then the entire bridal party headed across the street for some portraits. After a quick drive all the action at Busch Stadium, we stopped on Washington Avenue.  There we ran out and dodged traffic and also ran in to the wonderful firefighters from Engine House #2 of the St. Louis Fire Department.  They were kind enough to let us highjack their fire truck briefly and they even joined in for a photo. Then it was on to Forest Park where the sky lit up in beautiful streaks of blue and gold and everyone enjoyed a night filled with dinner, dancing, laughter, and of course, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Congratulations again, Melissa and Joe!

Melissa and Alex 10.12.13 by Bolla Photo

Melissa and Alex have already been together as a couple for a decade, ever since Homecoming their freshman year of high school in 2003. Anyone who spends any amount of time with them can see the fun and sweet love they share, which was reflected in their wedding day.

The bride wore fabulously green Poetic License pumps. The groom and his groomsmen donned Pokemon Pokeball cuff links. Their wedding stationery (and website) had 8-bit hearts, and their Save-the-Dates also featured an 8-bit bride and groom! They cut their wedding cake with the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda. And the groom’s cake was shaped like a Gameboy, complete with a screen showing the lyrics to “The Bolero of Fire,” a song from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

"It is something that grows over time... a true friendship. A feeling in the heart that becomes even stronger over time... The passion of friendship will soon blossom into a righteous power and through it, you know which way to go...”

Congratulations, Melissa and Alex! Wishing you many more decades of making each other smile.
