Jenn and David’s wedding invitations set the stage for their
big day by presenting the message in English, German, and Polish. David is from
Germany and came to the US in order to finish his PhD in Colorado. While there, he met Jenn, who was getting her
Master’s Degree in Higher Education at Colorado State University.
The day proved to be culture-rich and full of various traditions. Jenn donned her mother’s redesigned wedding dress at the Christ family residence in Lebanon. Meanwhile at the Sheraton Hotel, David’s parents helped him get to looking his best. In keeping with Polish traditions, David arrived, along with his family, to present Jenn with her wedding bouquet and gift of beautiful earrings. After some portraits outside, both families and the bridal party gathered inside for a blessing over the couple by the parents of the bride and groom.
During the ceremony, select passages were read in both English and German. Even the vows were translated into German by groomsman Predrag. Afterwards, everyone in attendance gathered just outside the church for a large group photo.
The playfulness in Jenn and David, which I adore and first saw during their engagement session, returned on the playground at Horner Park. They climbed on the jungle gym and other pieces of the playground. Then they had the best man and maid of honor push them on the swings.
The guests arriving at the reception were greeted by the new couple at the door and by packages of German sweets at their tables. David’s parents had brought pounds and pounds of gummy candies with them from Germany! The fabulous live band kept everyone dancing all night, including one traditional dance where all of the guests made large circles on the dance floor with the new couple and both sets of parents dancing in the middle. The celebrating, including a game of Limbo, continued on into the night.
Jenn and David, remember to say “ich liebe dich” everyday and keep your sweet, playfull love for each other strong. Congratulations again!
